As I write about Kendra Donovan’s journey in 1815, I am always fascinated by how much time and work went into meal preparation. We are so lucky in this day and age to have microwaves, convection ovens and countless kitchen gadgets that reduce our time in the kitchen. (Especially for people like me, who, quite frankly, aren’t the best cooks!)
I recently became intrigued by the Instant Pot, which has been taking the country by storm. I am a big fan of the “In Death” series by J.D. Robb (aka the phenomenal Nora Roberts). The series is set in the future, and there is a gadget that everyone uses called the Auto Chef. The characters program it, and — voila — the food instantly appears! Okay, logically, I knew that the Instant Pot was probably not like this. In fact, a reviewer, who raved about the gadget, warned potential buyers that this is not a magical device. Unfortunately, I still believe in magic. Now that I have purchased the Instant Pot, I know it’s no Auto Chef. On the other hand, I believe it will be a valuable tool in the kitchen once I figure it out!
My New Year’s resolution for 2018 is to become healthier (and, yes, this is a resolution that I do every year… but hope springs eternal!)
If there are any Instant Pot users out there, and you have some great healthy recipes, I’d love to hear from you. What works for you? What do you recommend? Either comment or drop me a line on my author’s Facebook page — www.facebook.com/Juliemclewain/
Happy holidays to everyone!
